Congrats to Mike Mellville and Burt Rutan on their successful first X-prize flight. They use a Hybrid engine on the Spaceship one. I was locked into their flight on the internet and fox and it was incredible. It won't be long and I can catch a suborbital shot... Now I just need to save up 300K... Saving my $ in hope of a price drop Peace, Fr. Bill
I agree but Mike said it was a victory roll.... I can't wait to hear the science debrief in a couple of weeks. Peace, Fr. Bill
come on... they called it a snap roll.. I tried that in a Piper Cub as a student pile-it... Bob Andersen
No, not the barrel roll during the decent, while gliding -- I thought that was cool. Can't picture NASA letting you do that on your decent... What I was refering to was when the ship started to spin, on it's ascent up; that looked fairly dicey, and not something planned. But, I don't know -- maybe it was. I'm with you, Fr. Bill -- will be very interested to see the write-up in a few weeks!
the pilot said he thought he figured out what the problem was although Rutan said that they would have to analyze the flight data to acertain or verify what happened.
