In flight: see the planes in the sky right now – interactive | Environment | theguardian.com This is a really fun interactive thingy. It takes a while to load, but it's worth it. It follows every scheduled commercial flight that took place, everywhere in the world, yesterday. It's interesting to look at the concentrations of flights, or to pick one and follow its route. There's some historical stuff as well, but that's not too exciting. It's the map itself that I like.
hyo...think of the carbon footprint if every single passenger was in a car or boat by themselves traveling... a 747 gets about 91 miles per gallon per passenger a prius with two people gets better MPG per passenger, but not everyone drives a prius, and then think about the congestion on the road and ensuing traffic snarls...
