Hey everyone. I am an audio guy and really want some sound in the prius. I know we use an inverter instead of an alternator, and it is good for 60A output, on the systems electrical pull (not the drive motor) I am trying to shoot for no more than a 40A build, so right around 500 watts on a 2.1 build to keep it mellow, but use the most efficient speakers i can get my hands on. Has anyone out here had any issues with their power systems after going a larger route? Any dimming, or does your hybrid battery pack run out of juice faster? If the system does tax the hybrid battery pack, will the engine just spin and keep the power flowing again?
I added a self power, low profile enclosure sub-woofer, installed it under the passenger seat and wired straight to the AUX battery. No noticeable voltage sag and fills my need of low frequency
