Hi all: Just bought a 2010 Prius. Dealer offered a maintenance contract for $1,025 which covers regular maintenance all the way up to (and including) the 45K mile service. Basically, it's a "coupon book" and it is accepted at any Toyota dealer. Are there sources on the internet, etc. where I can buy this Toyota "coupon book"? If not, I wonder if we can organize a "Group Buy" to get a discount? Thanks in advance. Paul
Yes, the dealer here which is a sponsor of Priuschat.com has them at a pretty competitive price - check out http://www.warrantyshack.com - same Toyota plans at a very good price. I've seen "cost" on some of the warranties, and they're not far off.
Thanks for the info. The web site name didn't look very legit and I was shying away from it. Good to know that it's an actual dealer behind it who is also a sponsor!
I thought that unlike the case with Toyota extended warranties, Toyota dealers were NOT obligated to accept Toyota prepaid maintenance contract coupons, and that you had to check with individual dealers in question to see if they do accept them. In any event, IMO, the Toyota prepaid maintenance contracts are not worth it -- not even at the discounted price offered by WarrantyShack.com.
IMHO, best deal is to pay for services as you go. The only way pre-paid maintenance contracts will 'pay off' is if maintenance costs esculate in the years to come. My nearest Toyota dealer is already charging double the price for basic services that my now closed Dodge/Plymouth/? dealer use to charge.
