Just need to order one for my Prius C Four... Not sure if the mod works for the navigation HU or not.... Any one can confirm? I did read through the post but seems miss the part for HU in four.
Haven't pick it up yet. but I don't think it's there when I tested it at dealer ship. It's a Canadian version.
Bought one from eBay which only has camera and cable. Gonna put it on by myself. Did for my sienna so this should not be a big issue I guess. I guess I need to figure out where to get 12v in. Looks like I can't use the reserve light since the HU needs to detect the camera?
the battery is under the seat. may use a relay harness to get the 12V power. only use the reverse as signal for the relay so it will not over load the reverse wiring.
I will use relay. I thought the 12v is coming from somewhere near the HU.... or in someone's pdf, they just got from the back light. Maybe I can get it from the cigarette socket so I don't need to pull another line from the battery.
on my C1, i used the reverse positive wire to give power directly to the camera. the camera will not overload the circuit.
I thought there is no voltage on the reverse positive unless you shift to reverse position. And the HU require the voltage to detect the backup camera installed right from starting the vehicle.
Yes that is correct. You have to use a relay. the relay should work with 6v. You will need to switch that 6v signal from 6v to 12v. then you can power the camera. If you happen to have a camera that works on 6vs, then you are good to go. There are a lot of online sources to get a ready made relay and conversion that way you dont have to cut and splice anything. Those can be had for around$30.
I am not sure about all the Models, I know the C1 and C2 do not have the wire. The C3 and C4 might have it. Im pretty sure the C4 in America has a camera standard so if you have the C4, you might have the wire already. Its pretty easy to find out, youll just have to look at the plugs behind the radio.
