Pairing seems pretty hit or miss. Pairs sometimes, but fails often. Are there any tips or tricks? I notice the handsfree and wireless stereo modes have the same label "Car_Multimedia," but a different default PIN code for each. Is this part of the problem or should the PINs always be different? My phone shows both bluetooth profiles paired even though it only prompts for 1 PIN to be entered at initial set up. I assume I should have 2 PIN prompts if the PINs are not the same for handsfree and wireless stereo. Only handsfree mode is really paired and I have to go add the wireless audio as a separate device and it doesn't always work.
What kind of phone do you have? With my iPhone, I believe I did have to pair it twice (once for music, once for the telephone). It's very good about reconnecting to the phone every time I start the car as long as I left it playing when I turned the car off. It seems like when I pause the music before turning the car off, I have to go to the bluetooth audio screen and tell it to connect again next time I turn the car on.
HTC Touch Diamond. I have started using the phone as a USB drive in the car since I need to charge the phone anayway, I like to be able to see the track names on the car display and the wired USB connection also allows you to fast forward and rewind, but the stereo bluetooth only lets you skip entire tracks. However, for short trips where I go in and out of the car often, wireless bluetooth would be nice.
To address problems, try deleting both pairings, setting both PINS to be the same, and then re-pair, but starting with Car Multi-media. That seems to have worked out well for me and many others.
I don't have the manual in front of me, but I do remember seeing something about it deliberately disconnecting and requiring a re-connect under some circumstances. I was looking for it because I sometimes have to re-connect while I'm driving, if I've stopped the player in a particular way. Can't remember now, but may have to do with stopping it from the phone, rather than the car.
