Anyone have a gold 2nd Gen hood in good condition that they would not mind sending my way?
If you find a seller who has one for not highway robbery prices as well, let me know?
Anyone in Virginia, northern North Carolina, southern Maryland, and Delaware especially?
Willing to look into shipping costs if further than that?

On a more serious note, Prius hoods tend to be pretty chipped up since the design exposes them to more gravel strikes than flatter hoods. So even if the OP finds one in the right color it may not look so hot. If the OP strips it down to metal (not that much work on a tiny hood) perhaps a local paint shop would not charge too much to paint it to match? This is with the hood off the car, so no masking or any work like that.

I see him all the time here in North Carolina Gold is one of the number one colors A lot of times it's not as bad as the other colors The paint pitting coming off from the wind whatever you want to call it but I do see them regularly I'm imagining at the junkyard they're going to ask 150 bucks or something stupid That's pretty typical If it's a small private tow lot you might could do better or I might could do better I generally am not looking for body parts All of my hoods are original aluminum I have a well that's not gold so it doesn't matter and then shipping would be tricky but if you're down in the southeast if I grab one I could hold it at my place and you could come get it I'm not sure where you are

They're super expensive to ship... Just keep your eyes out at wrecking yards. I've had a gold Gen2 Prius I was looking for a hood for almost 4 years. Finally a week ago I found one at a wrecker at same time they were having a sale on hoods and doors. It only cost me $60!

Do you just call the local wrecking yards every week or so?

I have LKQ in copart on my phone so I can see their inventory and I can get an alert when it changes. And then for locally in my town I have a couple toe lots if they get a generation two and they will call me very quickly and then other tow lots when they pick them up they put them on Facebook marketplace almost immediately for parts so I'm monitor that in my area I'm almost daily and as they pop up anything I see I like I shoot him a text right quick sometimes they remember me sometimes they don't usually I'm looking whole cars so parts I'm not really interested in that much.

That's a long time to drive around without a hood! Kidding. Presumably it had some other color hood on it. After 4 years I think I would have given up and lived with whatever color that was.

Mine has a dent in it. Not a real little one either. Dent was there when I bought it.
I had someone damage the front edge of the fiberglass hood of my Mustang.
In that case just hid it with a bug deflector but I don't want to do that here.

You could install a LeBra (?). They actually look pretty good on a Gen 2. They offer a one piece kit that installs only on the front of the hood or a two piece that covers hood and fenders/bumper. Pretty reasonably priced.

    No-no-no, not just yet:

I doubt anyone would have one; the stock hood is aluminum, much lighter. The insurance would be prohibitive too.

Pretty sure the op wants a free aluminum hood already painted gold.

You will consider paying shipping if it is more than one state away? Otherwise you want me to ship it to you free?

Honestly, let me know how much shipping would be. Good to know beforehand to judge if I can afford it.
If you can fine a way to ship it for around $150, I could PayPal you.

A hood for a generation 2 the steel version not the aluminum which is I don't know what the difference is in weight but when you're picking them up by hand it's not huge but it's you can tell it The steel hood ships from mid America to North Carolina was $200 because of its size and packaging and when it arrived it was damaged and it was packaged like most body shop hoods come packaged It had tabs on the corners he's folded pieces of plastic on any corner it was wrapped in sandwiched in cardboard which then was fiberglass taped around and so on but somebody threw it you could see the marks on the container and that bent the corners I didn't even waste time with the claim and the nonsense a Gen 3 guy took the hood when he needed it He fixed it easily and painted it and used it it's on a car but it was stupid silly to ship considering That's one of the most bread and butter colors in the generation 2 they're all over the country sitting in tow lots junkyards yeah I know You have to go look or you have to sit on the desk and call on the phone or something If you're in the southeast USA Conyers Georgia's the place you want to get to be around a minute there's some junk yards down there total them up they probably have 48 mi of Prius between the four of them You could spend a weekend down there and not put a dent in looking even with two drones and four people and I haven't been down there in a few years I don't know these places are getting rounded up and having to scale down or what all's going on but I'm sure it's probably not getting good but then again I'm just trying administration and the EPA being closed down they may be good for another 20 years who knows In the north I have no idea nothing survives up there well aluminum hoods would but the market would be minimalist at best

I get an email notification every time a Prius goes out on the lot to be picked over... They won't tell you what parts are on it over the phone, so you just have to get down there and get the part asap.

The closest LKQ now has a deal now where they will go and pull a part off for you, perhaps it is possible to leave a standing order? It might end up costing as much as buying the part from a conventional wrecking yard though. Not sure, didn't read the blurb about it since I wasn't going to use the service. They also raised their entrance fee from $3 to $5.

Lotta towing lots around here. And they're always putting ads up on marketplace of the wrecked and messed up junked Prius they're parting out I mean in my Facebook marketplace right now there are like 15 Prius that are being parted out some of them have complete front ends so on and so forth there's a few gold ones I think etc etc so LKQ I almost never have to do I mean usually the tow lots are closer

One of the local ones has a silver one for $70. Might call them tomorrow. At that price and if in good condition, even if the colors are not a perfect match, good enough. I assume a Prius can carry a hood in her cargo compartment?
