just got a RAV4 rental that had carplay.. wow makes such a huge difference. don't have to hang a clip anymore to navigate.. looking at my own panel for 2016 V with advanced package.. it should in function do the same thing.. was wondering if there's a update to add that? suggestions?
You can convert to an aftermarket stereo deck featuring carplay/AA and more. Once you’ve converted to a standardized double-DIN stereo, you’ll be able to do further upgrades as new features arrive, should you keep the car so long. There isn’t a Toyota-branded upgrade kit, nor is there likely to be.
that is really too bad. i have a perfectly functional head unit from the car that i barely touch b/c it's interface and apps are crap.. all i want is maps and spotify.. why is toyota so backwards. most american brands have carplay for years
It’s a major profit center for them. When they know they can get an extra $2800 out of you for buying a higher trim level, they’ll do it. Especially when that higher trim level really just means an $80 crap stereo instead of a $60 crap stereo and maybe $75 worth of plastic appliques to accent the cabin.
they're finally caving on the newer models, but it took a lot of arm twisting. only a hue and cry from customers can bring about positive change. most of us have settled for great gas mileage, with a lot of shortcomings
