    I installed the Sony XAV-AX100 (not the 1000 listed in the article) in our Prius c when it finally made it to the ripe old age of 4 days / 200 miles.

    Yes, you read that right. The plan all along was to ditch the garbage stock Toyota unit and put in something useful.

    The Sony we installed looks the same as the one pictured, but it supports Android Auto and also has a few lesser differences.

    I never want to own a car that I can't upgrade in this manner.

    AFAIK, there is no aftermarket head unit that is compatible with PRIME trims with 11.6" display. If you want to switch the head unit, you must have Plus or LE trim with 7" display.
