YouTube videos have convinced me that transplanting a Gen 4 motor into a dead Gen 3 Prius (2013MY) is a doable task. Those who have done it on YouTube reuse the Gen 3's intake manifold and EGR system. There are some additional mechanical tweaks but they seem manageable in the overall scope of the project. I have located a low mileage 2021 Prius motor at good price. Can anyone in this forum think of a good reason not to attempt to retrofit a 2021 motor to my dead 2013? Is the 2021 motor indistinguishable from the 2016 motors that YouTubers are transplanting to Gen 3s? Thanks in advance for any advice on this topic. My trusty 2013 may live to ride again...
i can't think of any reason not to do it. most are successful, and you seem to know the couple of quirks that need taking care of. it is unlikely that the 21 is differnet in any way that would be a problem.
