Sorry to bring this up if it has already been hashed out in previous posts. I'm curious to know how many of you plan to buy the extended warranty or have already done so. On the face of it, it seems like a good idea; even more so at the price Danny obtained for Priuschat members. Still, these cars are so reliable that it might just be handing Toyota an extra 1k. Bov
Yes, While Toyota makes an extremely reliable car and ultimately the Prius will be the same, I have been happy to have it already. We have had some computer issues which have required the dealership to keep the car all day for repairs. And while this is warrantee work, under the extended warranty the loaner car has been nice and probably recouped 5% in rental charges
Definitely Yes -- for the reasons jchu just explained, as well as an eloquent statement Evan made many months ago about why he got one for his Prius, for the first time in many years. And I plan to get it through PriusChat.
I did, for the reasons above, through PriusChat. No regrets. Consumer Reports has an alternative strategy which may be of interest to those in a different financial situation. Take the money each month you would be paying toward the extended warranty (as part of your car loan) and put it in your own savings account. If you have repairs later, you will have saved toward it. If not, you will still have the money and its interest.
