The Public Environmental Data Partners are committed to preserving and providing public access to federal environmental data. We are a volunteer coalition of several environmental, justice, and policy organizations, researchers across several universities, archivists, and students who rely on federal datasets and tools to support critical research, advocacy, policy, and litigation work. To gather insights on what data to preserve, we reached out to our networks, which consist largely of environmental justice groups and networks, state and local government climate offices, and academic researchers. We compiled a large list of federal databases and tools, and prioritized them based on their relative impact, our confidence that we could archive them, and the relative effort it would take to obtain and archive them.
I am reminded of the Library of Alexandria: Library of Alexandria - Wikipedia

The Great Library of Alexandria in Alexandria, Egypt, was one of the largest and most significant libraries of the ancient world. The library was part of a larger research institution called the Mouseion, which was dedicated to the Muses, the nine goddesses of the arts.[10] The idea of a universal library in Alexandria may have been proposed by Demetrius of Phalerum, an exiled Athenian statesman living in Alexandria, to Ptolemy I Soter, who may have established plans for the Library, but the Library itself was probably not built until the reign of his son Ptolemy II Philadelphus. The Library quickly acquired many papyrus scrolls, owing largely to the Ptolemaic kings' aggressive and well-funded policies for procuring texts.[3] It is unknown precisely how many scrolls were housed at any given time, but estimates range from 40,000 to 400,000 at its height.
    . . .
The first-century AD Roman playwright and Stoic philosopher Seneca the Younger quotes Livy's Ab Urbe Condita Libri, which was written between 63 and 14 BC, as saying that the fire started by Caesar destroyed 40,000 scrolls from the Library of Alexandria.[61][82][8][86]
    . . .
Bar-Hebraeus, writing in the thirteenth century, quotes Umar as saying to Yaḥyā al-Naḥwī (John Philoponus): "If those books are in agreement with the Quran, we have no need of them; and if these are opposed to the Quran, destroy them." So, Ibn al Qifti recounts, the general ordered that the books be burned to fuel the fires that heated Alexandria's city baths. It is said that they were enough to provide heating for six months.[100]

With gutting of the National Archives, next up, Library of Congress.

3 years 9 months to say bye, then reverse and undo all, 1 year 9 months to totally hobble. If the democrats are unified. No more 900,000 votes for Jill Stein, no more I’m not voting because I’m protesting. Be like the Repubs, locked in goose stepping SS troops.
1 year 9 months is not bad.

Reminds me of the old story:

A priest stood on the roof of his home, trapped by rising floodwaters.

The priest began to pray, until a boat of Howard Dean volunteers arrived and told him to get in. The priest declined the help, saying "I know God will save me."

Before long, another boat arrived. The water was rising even faster now, and the Hillary Clinton volunteers begged for the priest to accept the rescue. The priest declined again, saying "I know God will save me."

At this point, the water had reached the priest's neck. A Kamala Harris helicopter arrived, and dropped a ladder for the priest to climb onto. They used a megaphone to plead for the priest to get on, but to no avail. The priest simply said "I know God will save me."

The helicopter left, and eventually the water rose too high, drowning the priest. When he reached the gates of heaven, he approached God. The priest asked God, "Why did you leave me? I believed in you to save me, but you never even tried!"

God, sounding very annoyed, She snapped at the priest. "Didn't try to save you!? I sent two boats and a helicopter!"
