Tomorrow I am going to remove the stock housings, clip the wires leading to the bulb, crimp new connectors and connect them to these. Do you guys and gals think that the 4 watt difference between the stock 51watt bulbs and the 55watt bulbs in the new housing will present an issue or is the difference negligible?
The difference is negligible. The 51 watt bulbs draw 4.25 amp at 12 volts the 55 watt bulbs draw 4.58 amps. In the UK and Europe the standard OEM bulbs for the fog lights are 55 watt anyway. John (Britprius)
Before cutting off the wiring on the OEM bulb check the fitting to the new bulb as it is quite possible the same fitting. John (Britprius)
Agreed, the difference in current is negligible. Realize that the lights you are mounting are driving lights, not foglights, so the beam will be much narrower and not designed to project low to the ground. You probably need to treat them as if they are highbeams in that you will be blinding oncoming drivers if you have them on all the time.
