I'm a new Prius owner and today, while rewinding a cassette a number of times (to try and find the right place on my book-on-tape), I managed to freeze the audio system. After shutting off the car and turning it back on, the screen said, "Check the System" and everything else worked fine except the Audio button brought up a screen that said "AUDIO OFF", but I could hear the cassette running. I figured I would just take it to the dealer tomorrow, but then I noticed that even after I shut the car off, the cassette player continued to run and the lights on the Audio were still on. Help! I'm worried that I'll have a dead battery in the morning and won't be able to get it to a dealership. Anyone know how to cut power to the Audio System so it will reset?
eventually it will run to the end of the tape and shutoff i would think. you definitely have a weird situation there. if i were you, i might be tempted to just pull the fuse that controls the tape till morning.
Nope, it's continuing to run well past the tape being rewound. Can you direct me to that fuse? I would pull it but I don't know where that is.
well that would depend. if you have a separate amp then it will either be fuse 16 labeled ACC 7.5 amp or #39 for Dome 15 Amp. the first is located in the instrument fuse panel 2nd from top on right. the 2nd is located i engine compartment fuse panel and its a p shaped panel and it will be the 4th from bottom on the left going up the "P" leg dont really know which will work. suggest pulling one and see it makes it stop, if that doesnt work, pull the other one
Couldn't find any sign of the labels. I'm afraid of pulling anything if I'm not sure. Thanks. I guess I'll hope for the best and take it to the dealer in the morning. Luckily, they are really close.
