    Hello,

I have a 2017 Auris with ~82000km, AFAIK it's a Gen3 HSD under the hood: does anybody knows if the infamous Prius Gen3 brake booster issue affects the Auris too?
The booster started whirring more than usual: I related it to the old 12v battery (it's the first one) initially but it seems to me that the pump works often, sometimes even while I park. The car brakes fine, there are no lamps on the dashboard.
I guess I have to go the the Toyota repair shop to let them check it carefully.. any thoughts?

    thanks and regards,
    Fabrizio

Yes that should be the same two-piece assembly look carefully there are two separate pieces in the United States each piece is about $800 I think so around $1,700 or so for the two pieces It's tricky discerning which piece is bad. But it can be done

I'm writing from Italy; my concern is about Toyota's conduct: they knows that some boosters in Gen3 are defective (a Customer Support Program exists), why does continue to use the same parts into a 2017 Auris? :|
Anyway I have to go to the workshop 'cause my car is still under the high-voltage battery warranty (afaik one rule is to don't disconnect the 12v battery, only the toyota workshop is allowed)

    regards,
    Fabrizio

I don't know if it's a defective part you're talking about I know that there was some upgrades to the unit but I thought it was predominantly software firmware something along those lines.? I mean I haven't read anything about it or really know that much about it but what are you going to alter in a big hunk of aluminum with some liquid switching valves in it other than adding different kind of rubber or closure mechanisms to the valves to keep the fluid from moving like better quality rubber etc just don't know what changes they would necessarily make. I do know that after 2016 or 17 if you look at what happens in the Corollas and some of the other Toyota's that big two-piece hunk of aluminum that goes against your firewall that is the two pieces of your brakes is no longer like if you look at a 2016 Corolla that piece now mounts on the fender well like it does in my Suzuki and you can buy rebuilt ones for $140 for major suppliers lake AI cardone. There are no longer two pieces that cost $1,800 for the two pieces to replace because you need to replace them both because it's difficult to separate them and get it correct. Now all that's one piece and sits on the fender well You don't have to take half the car apart to remove it notice only in the Prius does this nonsense continue with the brake parts maybe it's the same in a few of the lexuses but it looks like the cars that are their bread and butter have gone to like almost what every other car is using today.
