Are any of you Aussies okay? Or your families? Seems like a dire situation, not unlike what we have here in Southern California. Except you call 'em bush fire. We call 'em brush fire.
Although the fires are wide spread it is worth noting that people you know in Australia most likely don't live in the fire affected areas. I'm not playing down the magnitude of the fires which is huge but rather saying that the odds are in favour of people not being affected. The areas affected by these fires is generally sparsely populated although whole towns have been wiped out, they were small towns. I guess this is a comment on the title of this thread, it is most likely us guys are fine. See my post here for more. 173 now confirmed dead, this is a shocking event in the history of a country of about 20,000,000 people and more so when you consider the injured and the loss of homes and businesses.
