Lucky me, my company is not included. Allstate and American Family Insurance return $800 million in premiums because no one is driving - CNN
We've got something now with ICBC (crown corp. insurer in BC): if you drive under 5K kms per year, you get a 10% discount. First heard about it last November when we renewed, but didn't pursue it further, considering we're something like 7~8K. Kinda kicking myself now: Even if you exceed 5K, doesn't hurt to try: they make a record of your odo reading when you renew (dated cell phone pic I've heard suffices, I've heard), then next year repeat the process.
Guess it may be worth it - to call our agent at State farm - see if they'll drop our car rates .... tho we had to fight them long & hard, after our renters did THIS to our Nashville rental - a couple years ago; When we retire in a couple years - this was supposed to be the place. Thanks a lot State Farm . . . Like a good neighbor? me thinks not. EDIT: Not to leave it too negative, the replacement house nearly new, just a few miles down the road has built-in sprinklers. Lessoned learned I see Allstate (to get back on topic) corporate is forcing their agents nationally to take a heafty cut to make ends meet - so they're not too happy, down in the trenches .
+1 My CFO reports that our rates dropped a bit. I'm not looking for a bonanza since we already pay fairly low rates.
I just received an email from GEICO. 15% credit will be applied to any renewal or new policy purchase made between April - October. This is for all current and new policyholders.
I think this is great. Anything we can do to make things a little easier during a trying time. Getting a help on your auto insurance would be nice. That being said, I haven't heard anything from my Insurance company about getting anything but the next statement for the premium.
Since the two companies starting this discount at the start of this thread, many more have jumped in with similar programs: Auto Insurers Offering $8-$10B in Discounts in Coronavirus Relief Effort; Updated List "State Farm and Nationwide late last week joined the ranks of the top 10 auto insurers providing relief that already included Geico, Progressive, Allstate, USAA, Liberty Mutual, Farmers, Travelers and American Family. In addition, since late last week the following insurers have also announced offers: Erie, Hanover, CSAA, Chubb, Cincinnati Financial, Kemper, MetLife Auto & Home, Mercury, Plymouth Rock, NJM, Auto-Owners, Amica, Shelter, Arbella, Selective, Encova, Mapfre and Union Mutual."
Liberty Mutual is giving back 15% of two months premium. That is about $63 for us. I was quite surprised when I got the email. Very unexpected.
just got that amica email, comes to about 40 bucks what about medical and dental insurance? all of our check ups have been cancelled
The checkups represent only a small portion of medical costs. The other costs continue. Unlike the auto insurance industry, the medical insurance industry is not basking in any sudden financial windfall from sharply reduced claims. Dental would be a different matter.
We got an email a few days ago the Travelers is going to reduce our premium by 15% for the next two months. Or refund the equivalent if we already paid, which we did.
