AutoDim Mirror, why so complex?

    There seems to be power available inside the cabinlight assembly, why is it necessary to wire the mirror is such a complex manner? I thought you could just splice into the existing wiring that is there for the cabin light ??

    the interior light is powered all the time where as the AutoDim is only on with the headligts and the power switch on.
