(I vaguely remember hearing about this before, so forgive if old news... quick search/scan didn't pull it up in forums.) May 30 article @ Autoexpress.co.uk "Our insiders have blown the cover on a turbocharged prototype which is being tested in Japan. Auto Express was the first magazine to reveal plans for a 100mpg-plus successor to the Prius in issue 904 - and now we can spill the beans on how it will be done..." Ever since making the decision to not get a Prius or Camry Hybrid and to wait for the next Gen prius instead, I'm insatiable when it comes to any tidbits on the next version. Crossing finger for electric only for short trips in town and for plug-in, but not holding my breath for both to be included. Most of my use will be short 3-5 mile trips @ 40mph or slower.
A search for turbo pulls up this original thread: http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=20521&hl=turbo
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(NuShrike @ Jun 13 2006, 02:21 PM) </div> Doh, I swear I searched for autoexpress, turbo, and turbo prius... guess I just missed it. Either way, good news in the article that will hopefully pan out.
