I just returned from a 2100 mile, 10 day trip touring the Olympic Peninsula and Oregon coast in a 2019 Prius rented from Avis. Compared to our 2010, the 2019 is a better car, quieter, more power, better seats, better ride and handling. But the most astonishing thing about it was the fuel economy. I filled up in Lynwood, WA, toured Olympic National Park, and drove down the coast. My next refueling wasn't until Newport, OR, having driven 562.4 miles. The car took 8.3 gallons, resulting in 67.7 mpg! Never gotten more than 51 in the 2010 Prius. Driving it instead of a typical 30 mpg sedan saved me about $120. Not what I expected from a car as comfortable and nice to drive as the 2019 Prius.
Yeah, I'm getting ready for a PCH drive from Pismo to Bodega Bay myself. I expect really good numbers.
Just over 5000 miles on my '21. Daily commute 140 mile round trip with 2000 foot elevation gain on the way down. Running average consistent at 56.2 mpg. The ride down averages 48-52 mpg, and coming back I see 72 mpg pretty regular. Astounding!
