Prius meetings seem wasteful and incongruous if you go there in your car. Presumably you run a Prius because you want to use less fuel. Discussion at a meeting of Prius owners is likely to be mainly about saving fuel but the best way to save fuel is to stay at home and avoid unnecessary journeys, keeping an eye on PriusChat if you want to learn more about the Prius. So are the folk at meetings guilty of doublethink? ("Doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them" George Orwell)
Honestly, if you are going to remove yourself from the motoring public, than what you suggest is realistic. However, people buy fuel efficient cars so they can remain part of the motoring public while doing something for themselves or the environment, or to make a statement or whatever. It doesn't matter. However I firmly believe that live meeting groups of Prius drivers, or hybrid drivers in general, has a way of spreading the idea, concept and desire for more hybrids and hopefully has a positive force on increasing the popularity and desireability of these machines. We as humans are a pack animal. As much as I enjoy reading and posting here and at other Prius/hybrid sites, it isn't the same. Now, there is no Prius group in my local area. I'm in the minority here, but if there were a group meeting locally my drive would be no more than 5 miles from home or work and as such that is barely enough to warm the car up, but it doesn't use much fuel either. Worth going to to have human contact and to meet and talk about the Prius, but other things also.
Doublethink has a long and honored tradition. I employ it every day. My doublethink applies to Iraq, farm subsidies, taxes, abortion, wearing a necktie, my wife (she's not reading over my shoulder today  ), my age and my weight.
First round's on Oxo. I'd like a half yard of bitter. Or maybe an IPA. (Where's the "happy drunk" emoticon when you need it?)
galaxee they drink it warm. You may want to reconsider. The suds are way better that the average US stuff that may make up for the temp.
I can only speak for myself of course. I am starting (re-starting) group meetings because I am at my house all the time. In fact I'm at work more than I am home it seems. I am anti-social and so meeting others with at least one similar interest I only see as a plus. I work and live by myself so it will be nice to visit with others. We are planning to move meetings around so that maybe we will only attract people close to each specific area and die-hards who like the group will show up to multiple location meets even if they use more gas doing so. And hey, if they want to show up with just a bicycle more power (or less ) to them. There is more to talk about at meetings than saving gas by the way. And now time for my shameless plug: Find out when the LA, CA group starts in this thread.
No, they do not. They drink it at cellar temperature; warmer than the ice cold we are used to, but far from warm.
My only knowledge on the subject is a bunch of externs (reads medical students from across the pond) who volunteered to bring the beer to a going away party for them. They drank half of the beer before it was cold enough to be palatable.
Oxo, why waste money on expensive food, when you could eat chips and read a cook book. Why go on dates when you can see prettier, even wittier, people on TV? Why own a Prius, just take the bus or the tube. The next <a href=\'http://prius.meetup.com/136/\' target=\'_blank\'>Prius meetup in the Portland area</a> is January 14. Come if you're in the area.
