Backup Key FOB

    Please help know what is cheapest option to buy a spare Smart key fob for Prius 2012 Plugin. Bought a used one and came with only one Key.

    congrats!
    i think the cheapest is to buy a correct virgin fob on eBay, and 'chicken dance it' to program. there are a bunch of threads here, look in gen 3 forums for lots of advice, it's fairly complicated.

    First, you should have insisted that the SELLER bear the cost of a second FOB.

    Call around to some locksmith shops. Some of them specialize in electronic car locks.,
    They usually can do what you need for about half the price of a Toyota dealer.......which is the desperation play.

    Also some junk yards sells the used original fobs, you just need to get it reprogrammed. Also post on local craigslist. For example, when one of my new car was totaled, I have sold its very expensive fob on cragislist (since I dont need to give all the fobs while getting totaled )
