I have a 2008 Prius w/premium headlights. The lo-beam is awful. After checking them with a leveling test at the dealer, I am told that nothing can be done to improve the lo-beam coverage. I am wondering if anyone else has this problem? Are there good after-market light kits that can be used for this problem?
I assume you have HID lights. They can be adjusted upwards by you or the dealer. Just don't go too far or you'll get flashed by oncoming traffic.
Yes, I do have HID lights. Dealer claims that they are adjusted as high as they are designed to go. Lo-beam is still not very good. I often drive w/hi-beam on and seldom get flashed by on-coming drivers. Are you aware of any after market lights?
No aftermarket lights... If you do a search on PriusChat, there are instrutions as to how you can adjust your lights higher. With the Prius, there is a severe cutoff with the headlights that takes some getting use to.
I took the car into the dealer today for the 3rd time. This time, they opened up the hood on the spot, took a screwdriver and made a few adjustments on the spot. We'll see how the lights look on the road tonight. Why they did not do this before is a mystery. Lazy perhaps.
They are easy to adjust yourself. Also, check that the auto-leveling sensor and motor are working correctly.
