I have a 2007 Prius that randomly (once a month or so) appears to have a dead battery--jumping it gets is started. I took it in to Batteriesplus and they tested the 12 Volt battery and said it was fine. They thought it was the main battery that was an issue. Would a problem with the main battery have this issue? How do you test the main battery?
The Main battery would never be 'helped' by jump starting, it is 201 volts, not 12 volts. In the US, at least two batteries are correctly sized and as safe as Toyota's battery Optima DS46B24R Optima battery direct fit replacement for Prius 2004 + & Plug-in Prius with Instructions Exide AGM Car Battery (Group S46B24R) To test the 12 volt battery use these instructions after leaving it overnight. you should report back with 3 voltages but if any are under 12 volts it is time for a new one.
