Date Ordered: May 8, 2006 Dealer Ordered From (Incl. City/State): Houston, TX Timeframe given for delivery: 8 weeks Color: Barcelona Red or Seaside Blue Option Package: #4 Your # on Dealer's Waiting List: no list just waiting to be built and shipped. Placed my order today and was told a minimum of 8 weeks and a maximum of 120 days. First time I ever purchased a vehicle I never actually touched yet alone test drove. The dealship informed me my deposit was fully refundable since they are 100% sure that if I don't want to close the deal, someone else will. Looking forward to Texas passing an HOV ruling in favor of Prius drivers.
After getting impatient, I did a websearch to locate the Toyota dealers within 50 miles of my home and sent e-mails to all of them asking if they had or could get their hands on a Package 4 Blue or Red Prius 2006. The majority of the dealers did not contact me but 4 did. Of course, like the dealer I have a $500 fully refundable deposit with, NONE of them had a Package 4 in the two colors I wanted but they did offer alternatives that I could accept. The reason I am posting this is to say the upside of doing this was that I informed the dealership that has my money that I was "branching out" to find what I wanted. The next effect is that he was able to work a little harder and find me a package 4 (with no extra dealer non-essential that just drives the price up) in one of my alternate color selections Driftwood Pearl. So now I am expecting to pick up the car mid-July. I will keep my fingers crossed.
Wellcome! New prius owner I got mine a few weeks ago after about 1.5 month wait.Mine is also driftwood, wasnt one of my top choices for color!but ive got to say i like it alot now.Interior is beige!which is nice, but will be a challenge to keep clean.Have fun! its a great car!im on my second tank now with high 40s mpg. Stan!
w00t! Way to go! You pushed the right buttons. I have a love/hate relationship with Driftwood. With no sun or bright lighting, I think it's Prius's worst color. In the sun I think it's close to their best. The way they mix their paint (especially with the metallic content), almost all their colors (save black and white) are like that. There's no shortage of sun in Texas...
