I have a 2007 Prius with 92000 miles. All dashboard warning lights lit up the other day. Had it towed to the Toyota dealer and they first replaced the HV ECU. Now they are saying the traction battery needs to be replaced. They have had the car several days but they put me in a free rental. Luckily I am covered by Toyota under the 8 year, 100K mile warranty. Just curious, is there any battery failure data available for the Gen 2 Prius?
not really. it's fairly rare though. and of course, the lower the mileage, the rarer it is. glad you were under warranty!
Some interesting data here.... Honda Civic Hybrid Battery Reliability | Hybrid Batteries - Consumer Reports News
Good find and very interesting data on Prius vs Honda battery life (not surpised though, Toyota definitely still leads in hybrid vehicle development amongst all the mainstream automakers IMHO).
