    Hi Everyone,

I'm reaching to for an ask- I have a 2010 Prius with 202,000 miles. My Dr.Prius app is showing the battery in "fair" condition. I notice my mpg isn't what it used to be. I love taking care of my car and being proactive, and thought I'd ask if anyone in the greater Boston/RI/NH/VT area has a battery reconditioning kit laying around that they would lend to me.

I'm happy to give you money, or trade/barter my time. A little about me- I've worked on cars since I was 18 (now 33), live in Providence RI and am getting my masters in social work. Would love to keep my prius going to 300k miles. Still doesn't burn a drop of oil between 5k mile changes :)

Come on I know someone is sitting on a reconditioning kit in their basement or garage :)

Ever heard of lent out tools never being returned or if returned broken and / or abused.
20 years ago there used to be network of conscientious lender.
Best of luck with your request.

My father and I share a grid charger and I live in Brunswick in Southern Maine. I would not be in a position to lend it, but you could take a trip up here and we could do several charge cycles over 24hrs. You would need to get a wiring harness, and the company we bought the charger from is sort of still in business. Looking on their site it looks like their one for Gen 2 (which can be hacked to run on Gen 3) is sold out. We could extract it from one of our other Priuses and put it in yours for that one time, but you may want to keep looking for a charger more locally.

Also I wonder if rebalancing the battery now that it has been flagging is kind of too late. I understand that this chemistry does better with grid charging BEFORE it is having capacity issues. I have not seen anyone substantiate this claim, so maybe it is not as big of an issue as some make it out to be.

You get a CASH deposit of at least 20% MORE of the cost to replace the item you're renting out.
And make sure you can get a replacement.
That's what I offered when someone wanted to "rent" my tools. And they got mad!
Which kinda told me they didn't have good intentions....

Any value in doing what I have seen as battery maintenance involving rearranging the cells and cleaning up the connectors? I have not run the dr prius app, but I did see a video or two about trying to get the center cells that experience most of the heat to the ends of the battery and removing any corrosion on the connectors and bus bars.

Don't the retail battery reconditioning systems required a hard-wired harness added to the battery? How's that going to work? Can you buy just that harness?
