Hi all, I recently become the happy owner of a new prius 2010, everything has been fantastic and I love this car. Yesterday a big snow storm hit the northeast and we got about 15 inches of snow ( I just finish plowing my driveway with some good amount of elbow grease ), and once this morning I went to start the car to move, the battery seem dead, no sound nothing going on. At that point I desperately resolve to call the dealer tomorrow and went back inside the house. After sometime I went back out in desperation, and all of sudden the car give me a sign of life and did start. I keep it on for a while, but I noticing that all the info about the battery are gone, and that the display is showing only the speed and the consumpition ( left side of display ). I am planning to call the dealer tomorrow in any case, but I am just wondering if any of you had any similar experience. Again the car is brand new (5000 Miles) and had never had any warning of this may happen. Thank you in advance for your time and Happy holidays. Guido
Tx for the reply. Got the car brand new with 0 miles, and yes it was outside during the storm ( the garage is reserved to the sailboat . Funny just went out to check again and the display is back to normal. Should I call the dealer tomorrow, or just let it go thinking that she was just a little moody in the cold?
It sound like you are in the ignition mode. Make sure your foot is on the brake before pressing the power button.
When you get a chance, take a photo of any abnormal displays. This allows folks to check everything including the "READY" light. Bob Wilson
The Prius display can be affected by extrem cold. LCDs sometimes fail to work when exposed to low temperatures...
