Don't see a previous thread with recommendations for best type of bike rack for Prius. Have always had roof rack with previous cars. I've always thought roof racks protected bikes better, but am sure that roof racks probably create more drag and bring the mileage down. I'd love to know the general consensus, if any. I know, I know, if I want to protect the bikes, put them inside! But sometimes just can't fit all of the gear and bikes inside. So, help!! Thanks
My 2016 Prius will not take a Trunk mounted rack unless it is the kind that slides into a trailer hitch. Trailer hitch plus compatible bike rack makes me think a commuter bike that would fit in the back with my terra trike is a better plan.

Lol. I’d still vote for roof mounted. I have carried 3 bikes of various sizes with both Thule and Toyota branded roof bars and bike carriers.
