Not long ago, had the car go in to a Pep Boys--strictly for an oil change, no frills. 100$ roughly (52 parts, 44 labor etc). Felt really high, to me.

Then realized that Toyota still does a 3 oil change package deal for $170.

This seems like the best deal, counter to my intuition that dealers always try to upsell and charge the most. I want to go to the dealer--gasp.

But maybe I'm wrong and just dont know well enough from my limited life experience...

Around here, in certain parts of town (ICE raid areas) - they change you $20. You bring the oil and filter. They drive the car up their ramps and do it while you watch. Upside; you know what's going into your car!!! I'm sure you can find places like that in LA.
Stay away from some of these places that suck the old oil out your dipstick with a suction canister. They miss all the sediment and junk at the bottom of the pan. You know the stuff that should be dumping out with a real oil change.

    YMMV
