I just bought 2009 Prius and as I was dealing with the intermittent speedometer cluster, I left the car on the incline of my driveway and disconnected the battery. How was I supposed to know it has a bladder for a tank. Now the fuel level blinks. I found a chicken dance on YouTube that supposedly resets the inclination sensor, and I swear sometimes I can get it to activate and sometimes I can not, but I have reset it successfully a few times. Nothing. Then I thought what if I park it flat and disconnect the battery again? Still nothing. The fuel level is more or less accurate, but it's blinking, and so does the symbol for miles next to odometer. And every time I start the car it stays on long enough to give me hope... and then starts blinking again. Any suggestions?
It's blinking because you reset it when you disconnected the 12v power. After loss of 12v power it will show one blinking dot. It will recalibrate itself, and start indicating normally, but it may be 5 minutes or 5 hours. You also lost the window auto up down function and any radio presets. you can re-establish the auto window function by raising the window and continuing to hold the "up" button for another 5 seconds. The car will then relearn the window position. OR, are you saying you have more than one dot on the level indicator, and they are all blinking?
Will leave this here for others : https://attachments.priuschat.com/attachment-files/2016/10/114826_TSB_Fuel_Gauge_EL010-04.pdf First step to "Reset Inclination Sensor" is a level surface, mentioned on page 5, step 15(a).
