I guess it really depends on where you want to use it. I use silver myself to keep hub/rotor/wheel from corroding And seems to work. I don’t think copper would be “bad”, but I’ve just never thought about. I just go straight to silver. Just keep it off the lug threads, it can cause over-torqueing. I use disc brake lube on the back of the pads , pins and sliding shims. Some might say to use Toyota lube. I’ve used ultra disc lube without issue. -Spiral
I had a can of Permatex silver anti-seize, replaced with the same. Decades with Honda, when dealership brake service was done, I'd see either silver or copper squeezing out around brake pad shim edges. Sil-Glyde brake lubricant is what I've been using for caliper pin lube and boots. There is anti-seize in this pic. I don't lay it on thick, and always apply it to the piece going on, the smaller of the two, and that way you get it just where it's needed: (Replacement rear brake pads/shims on ours, after I screwed up the caliper orientation.)
This is what I have used for years. No problems. Just make sure you clean off all the old stuff first. You want it as clean as possible. And don't over use it. Enough to coat the parts is good. If you torque the bolts for the caliper, you don't "need" and locktite. Though some new bolts come with it already installed. Most people are overly careful with the brakes.
Back when I was doing breaks they were trying to glue the break pads to Caliper. We had this one car that would make noise no mater what anti squeal they had on the market. So I put some normal grease on the back of them.... Yep fixed never saw car again. I think any high temp grease would do trick. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Maybe the brakes fail aaannnnndddddd........... NO! Just kidding.... I've taken them apart, except for removing the puck, and wire brushed everything. Cleaned all the bolts, re-lubed and greased everything to finally get rid of the noise. Even told someone to turn the radio up louder!
Then they had some orange stuff. After that incident I always just greased back of pads. Don't know why industry thought glueing them to Caliper would do anything. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
