Hello, do you think the price of new batteries will ever get cheaper in the future whether it's the older prismatic modules or the new aftermarket cylindrical ones?

It's almost 2k for either option but I heard the aftermarket ones only last 4 years while the original is 10 years.

    Thoughts?

I can't speak for everyone else, but my aftermarket LiFePo4 battery is already 6 months past 4 years because I helped with prototype testing. Battery pack still works great with no signs of trouble!

The original prismatic modules are still on the road on some cars and have proven their reliability. Obviously the 20 year old battery management system of the Prius doesn’t help longevity as it does in new models.

On my 2006 Prius which I bought new, I had to replace 4 modules five years ago but the remaining 24 modules are original. Now it will be very risky to rebuild the battery again as most used modules have no life left and they will fail in 2-3 years if not sooner. New prismatic modules are the best bet.
