I've often told folks that NASA has one of every advanced system ever made . . . and low serial numbers. Over my career I've had occasion to work on network equipment that had aged to the point of being beyond old. Equipment that you went to Ebay for spare parts otherwise destined for the recycler. So I was happy to read about this effort to recover early moon images: Source: The hackers who recovered NASA's lost lunar photos - CNN.com So I'm remembering a T1 multiplexer retrieved from a warehouse that didn't quite work in the lab. But with a borrowed oscilloscope and some informed guesses, we got enough channels working to replace a failing unit still in production. So I have sympathy and admiration for their work. Bob Wilson
It's amazing what they can recover or clean up now isn't it. I'd love to see the newer high resolution pictures updated onto Google Moon (the moon option from Google Earth). There is little HD imaging there.
