The Autoplan agent at the dealership was not able to enter in my Prius C base model because it's not on the ICBC car list yet. I was told I'd receive an amended document later as well as a bill/refund for the difference. Here's what it said on my first vehicle registration: Year 2012 Make TOYOTA Model PRIUS Body style HATBK VIC TEM71P Fuel type GAS-ELECTRIC Net weight (kg) 01132 And on my original Coverage Fees and Premiums page: I'm at -11 (-43%) on the claim-rated scale Declared Value $22,500 Basic coverage has nothing to do with the car model but I'm in rate class 23, base $1472, discounted $839 Third party liability $2M, base $296, discounted $154 Collision rate group 14, $300 deductible, base $612, discounted $318 Comprehensive rate group 14, $300 deductible, base $318, discounted $138 Now, yesterday they sent me a "Confirmation Replacement Document". On the registration it now says: Year 2012 Make TOYOTA Model PRIUS <--- yes it still says Prius, not Prius C Body style HATBK VIC TGL71X <-- this is the only line that changed Fuel type GAS-ELECTRIC Net weight (kg) 01132 On the Coverages page, the following has changed: Collision rate group 19, $300 deductible, base $1,083, discounted $563 Comprehensive rate group 19, $300 deductible, base $496, discounted $213 And then today - even though I am enrolled in monthly payments - I got a remittance slip for the $322 difference which I'll have to pay in. The total still comes in under $2K/year so I guess I'm okay with it all, but the oddball thing is the wording: A fee/premium underpayment has occurred on your Autoplan certificate (policy) due to an Own Damage Error. What does this even have to do with damage?? What in the world are they thinking giving it a name like that? So anyway, for other BC Prius C owners, did they put you also in group 19 for collision and comprehensive? Does your registration say Prius C or just Prius? And for that matter - I should ask, what rate class are the standard Priuses getting placed in? Did anyone get a better rate on collision and comprehensive with one of the other companies on their Prius or Prius C?
Just got off the phone with ICBC and apparently the VIC they entered for this car does take into account the fact that it's a C, despite that not being in the text field. I forgot to ask about "Own Damage Error"!
According to my broker the regular Prius is identified as a lift back and the C is identified as a Prius hatchback.
I don't see any separate entry of the sort in the list brokers get to choose from. I typically respond that it's like the difference between a Corolla and a Yaris. But not a perfect analogy because Yaris is even smaller, and Corolla is usually always a sedan. Galaxy Nexus ? 2
