I have been lurking for nearly a year now, and I am kind of surprised to see to mention of butanol(butyl alcohol) as a biofuel. Compared to ethanol, it would appear to be the better alternative.

    It isn't as corrosive.
Doesn't require modification to existing engines.
Its energy density is much closer to gasoline.
    Can use waste biomass.

The developement seems to be still in the early stages, but the only drawback I can see is a possible surplus of acetone.

Thx for the links. I'll have to read up on butanol. I know absolutely nothing about it. Is that what's found in lighters?
