Here is another data security issue that can have real world consequences. Why buying used cars could put your safety at risk I wonder if this can affect users who buy a used Prime. What about cars that have been test driven before purchase? Somebody could test drive & tie the car to their phone. The subsequent purchaser would be none the wiser until the initial test driver took over the vehicle. I guess this is something else for dealers to check before finalizing a new or used car purchase.
Possibility of this happens with many second hand owners are slim..many don't extend car data connection ...and in this scenario that is out of the question... If second hand owners decided to keep this ....logical question will be from any purchasers to ask for any other authorized users befor to be removed That also apply to number of key's logged to the car...many owners have 3-4 key's logged.... So if you receive 2 you need to make sure that only 2 are logged Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Oh, THAT kind of "Smart" car! I thought from the title that you were referring to the ones that look like they'll flip over forwards if you hit the brakes too hard.
might as well wait to hit the lottery. if things get bad, they'll get ahead of the curve again. in the meantime, it's all about the hype. nice plug for new car sales though, might even top the 'we blew your tranny changing the oil, it's not our fault, but we are willing to take it in trade on a new vehicle' routine.
It's a useful reminder for folks buying cars with mobile access to make sure they visit the original dealer to clear out other users first.
How so? I thought most.all of those phone apps use a vendor's Internet server to route the phone's requests to the car. That raises the question as to how to define "original dealer". Some dealers will trade to get the car you want. Is the "original dealer" the one Toyota delivered the car to or the one who sold it? My Tundra was sold by a dealer in Virginia but Toyota originally delivered it to a dealer in Tennessee. You cannot usually check that without special software that only a few consumers would possess.
That is why I used the quotation marks. Too many English words have multiple meanings. What does it mean to open a window? You could mean a physical window or some proprietary computer software. There is also a "window of opportunity" that can be opened. All are very different.
my wife wanted one desperately, before we were married. she especially liked the commercial where they fit a 6' long sub in the back seat.
Which one? LOL A "smart" car, a used Prius Prime, a Smart car, an AMC Pacer, or an AMC Gremlin? All have been mentioned in this thread so far..
