Bypassing the exhaust preheater...

Exploring YouTube, I encountered this video on how to bypass the exhaust preheater on the Lexus CT200h, which is an equivalent to the Gen 3 Prius and the Prius v. This would come in handy, if the exhaust preheater leaks or if it is damaged by a catalytic converter thief. It would be handy also for the Gen 4 commonly known for exhaust preheater leaks.

The heater hose from the heater core basically is diverted to the exhaust preheater before it goes to the engine connected at the egr cooler.

I found that Magnaflow now makes a non-California Gen 3 Prius complete with the resonator without the engine preheater,

I doubt that they will do the same for California, because the preheater is still needed for C.A.R.B. compliance.
