http://www.cncda.org/CMS/Pubs/Cal_Covering_4Q_14.pdf See above exciting new data out today: California auto sales summary for 2014 year end. I always like to study the trends. So for 2014, Calfornia sold: 29, 935 PHEV 29, 536 BEV 59, 471 Total PHEV + BEV USA totals for 2014 were: (per ElectricDrive.org) 55, 357 PHEV 63, 416 BEV 118, 773 Total PHEV + BEV Thus our California friends purhased almost exactly 50% of all U.S. 2014 plug-ins, and 54% of PHEV (plug-in Hybrids). CA PHEV sales were better than CA BEV sales for 2014, but I am thinking 2014 is probably the last year we see PHEV>BEV in CA. I am going to stick my neck out and suggest BEV may be 2x PHEV in California this year. PHEV sales seem to be in the gutter with only 2110 sold in Jan-2015. I presume this is due to the pending end of green HOV sticker sales in CA. Having said that, PHEV sales always seem to peak in mid-year (see plot), so I could be proven wrong. But I am thinking PHEV sales may not bounce back this year.
