CA HOV stickers expiration

    As it is well known the California HOV stickers expired on 7/1/2011 but I still see lots of Prii in the carpool lanes and was wondering whether anybody got an official letter from DMV informing people that the stickers expired. I didn't and I would think that most people who don't pay attention to the news or read the paper will happily continue using the carpool lanes blissfully ignorant that they are breaking the law.

    Also, has anybody experienced any problems peeling them off in terms of removing paint, etc. ?

    I got the letter. The people you see in the carpool lane probably have children in the car or something.

    Use "goo-gone" and/or a hair drier to heat the sticker.

    got the letter about 6 weeks ago

    but sometimes I still use the carpool lane, because I have another person in the car with me... ;)

    the stickers are designed to be difficult to remove, to cut down on people stealing them to put on their own car.

    ignorance of the law is no excuse for not following it

    Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not driving in the HOV lanes, I was just wondering if everybody got the letters as I didn't. I was well aware that it expired 7/1/11.
