Some of you may remember that my "honest" garage quoted me $62 and $68 for the cabin and engine filters, respectively. Several people here replied that you can get them at WalMart for about $12 each. So...I wouldn't know what to get or would probably get the wrong thing. Do I just walk into an auto move store (or WalMart) and ask a clerk what to get? Or, even better (since I don't trust $7.25 / hour employees)...could someone kindly link me or post a screenshot of what to buy? Thank you (and before anyone asks, yes, my state actually has a minimum wage of $7.25/hour).
At least for the engine filter, I would shop at a Toyota parts department. Consider too: how often does this happen? Depends on location as much as miles. I finally broke down and replaced both filters on our 2010, around 10~11 years of ownership and 90k kms. That might be the one-and-only time. Cabin filter was looking tired, but engine filter was barely sooty. To be fair, we’re southwest coast Canada, air coming off the Pacific, likely a factor. Pennsylvania maybe not so much.
Just go into a local auto parts store. Tell them the filters that you want to buy. Tell them the year, make, and model of your car, and they will look up the part numbers of the filters that you need. Very easy and quick
