Guys, after a bit of assistance please with my Prius (UK model if that makes any difference). I was getting a scraping noise on full lock turning left in my Prius that I've only had for a couple of months, so naturally I had a quick look around the passenger side wheelarch. There's this wierd thin metal cable thing that runs from behind the arch lining into the front of the sill, and then around the hub. I haven't had the chance to jack it up and remove the wheel but is this something that has just fallen out of the arch lining? I've attached a picture of the offending item which I've tucked partially back into the wheel arch lining to keep it away from the wheel and I'm assuming this must have been what was catching on the tyre. Little confused as I've not come across something like this before... [/IMG] [/IMG]
I'm starting to wonder whether this cable actually has nothing to do with the car and the previous owner drove over it and it's just lodged itself firmly in the wheelarch/hub, in light of the lack of replies as to what it might be. It does seem to be firmly attached either end though. I will jack the car up on my next day off and have a proper look...wierd
I believe that's his front left side of the wheel well since he said he only gets the noise when he fully lock to the left. I think its just a loose wire that got caught some how in there, hard to tell...
Yes it was the front wheel. Jacked it up this morning and it was indeed just a random bit of cable that the previous owner must have driven over and not bothered to investigate as the scraping when steering on full lock was quite loud. It was well and truly lodged in and hence why it appeared 'secured' either end
