It's 45 degrees when I leave for work in the morning. It's in the low 60s when I drive back in the afternoon. About a 10-15. min. drive. Mostly freeway. I'm thinking of blocking only the upper grill now that the temperatures have dipped. BTW I'm using my EBH.
Blocking the upper will be fine. You may be declared clinically insane for doing such a thing in the state of California, but it may do you a little good in the mornings. Get a scan guage and you can probably block all but one slat of the lower too.
Thanks, but I don't feel the need to block the bottom. It will never get that cold here. And no one will notice or think me insane. Or any more insane than I was buying a Prius (and installing an EBH) in the first place. I've already bought my "pool noodles" and will cut the pipe insulation this weekend to fit nicely into the grill. No one will notice. I'll check my tire pressure this weekend too.
I second the Doctor's opinion. I blocked the lower grill (1 row open) when it first got cold. It then warmed up so this tank is experiencing temps like you describe with 55mpg on the MFD. I'm buying gas tomorrow so I'll have the calculated number then but it is definitely an improvement.
IMHO, it wouldn't hurt to leave the upper block on year round, well maybe not a good idea in San Diego. Godiva, you're really hard core!! an EBH and grill block? Way cool !! I'm with Evan though, you can use the EBH year round, but the grill block in temps above 60-65 or so, be careful. I think the Doc had a post on here in the last 2 weeks or so relating temps and containing a grill block warning. I'll try to find a link and post here. Good luck!!

Howdy, Make sure you check your TP too. Mine's dropped a bunch since summer when I had 40/38. I think it was 36/34 when I checked it the other day, possibly due to colder temps and slow leakage. Low here last night was around 27, high supposed to be 45, going to block my upper grill today.
