Quick question which I haven't been able to find the answer to: If I leave the Prius in PARK, and take the key with me into the post office to get my mail, then: 1. can someone get in and drive it away? 2. will the car turn itself off when I get more than a few feet away from it? 3. will I be able to continue my drive without going thru another "warm-up cycle?" Also, if I can leave it in Park while I'm outside it, can I also lock/secure it, using the remote? Or will that turn the car OFF (necessitating another warm-up cycle.) Guess you can tell, I don't like the warm-up cycle. It seems to cycle back to that, even when the car's only been turned off a minute or two.
yes, no, yes no... the car stays on while inside turn your radio, screen, and A/C off or else you might as well just warm up again. you can lock the car by rolling the driver window down.. getting out.. locking it by hand, then auto up on the window.. use your mechanical key to get back in, as the remote is disabled
2004-2010 Depends on how warm your Prius engine is. If it's fully warmed (S4), there will be no warm-up cycle, even if it's been off for a minute or two.
1. Yes, if they break the window. Lock the door manually. 2. No. 3. Yes, this is the whole point of not powering down. Even with the coolant temp at 106F the ICE won't turn on to warm anything up in the few minutes you are gone. I turn off the CC, headlights & audio. Sometimes I forget the headlights.
