I just found out that when my CAN-View reaches 72hr 50min run time the CAN-View will turn off and stay off until you unplug it and plug it back in. I unfortunately was saving the data ever 30 seconds to see if it was a time issue and I saved it on the 72hr 50min mark. The only way to get it working again is to reflash the firmware to clear everything out. I was going to do that anyway after I filled up this tank but it looks like I will get to reflash it in the morning instead. I know this wont affect some of you because you don't have a plug-in and wont be running 72 without resetting but I thought I would let the ones know that do have a plug-in and might be running 72+ hour tanks. I sent an email off to Norm to let him know about it. I don't expect him to fix this issue since it nothing major. Plus it even may be a hardware limitation or something he wont be able to fix. Looks like no one will get a CAN-View picture of my final 2000+ mile tank.
That's weird, it's not any identifiable power-of-two boundary in minutes or seconds that I can determine ... what's up with that? . _H*
Norm just replied back to me. He said its not actually 72hr 50min but 72hr 49min and 5sec which is where the time in binary rolls over from 40000 hex to 40001 hex. Combine that with high mileage and low average speed and you get a crash. He is going to look everything over and make updates for the V3 and V4.
Norm has updated the code for the V3+ and V4+ so if you plan on keeping your MPG data for long periods of time with out resetting you may want to update your CAN-View.
