I just had my Window tinted on Friday and today I was finally able to rolled them down. During the daytime, I had my windows opened and closed many times but tonight when I try to close my driver side window, it just won't close. Everytime I was able to close it to certain level, the window just automatically went down again. I try to search for an answer from the forum, the closest I find is about the window sensor that need to be reset. I was wondering if this is factory defective or just a quick reset of sensor can fix the problem. Thanks!
Sounds like the window safety stop is being triggered by the extra resistance from the tint. Here's a procedure from the repair manual for resetting the auto up function: Here's another initialization procedure that might help:
is the multiplex master switch just the window switch? My window won't close when I hold the switch all the way, I have to push it a bunch of small times so when I try to follow the instructions above, the window wont close and it doesn't work.
What those instructions left out that you will have to manually assist/force the window past where it stops, through to the full up position while holding the switch in the up position. This is best done with two people one to help the window along via grasping it between the palm of the hands and the other person to operate the window control switch. By assisting the window past the point where it stops you are making the jam sensor relearn the force required to close the window fully. Hope that helps. Posted from my iPhone via the Tapatalk app.
Thank you very much, dustoff, I'll try it later. Are you sure that's correct? I'm just afraid of messing up it even more by maybe pulling too hard. When I try to auto close the window, it stops halfway and goes down a few inches automatically. I just wanted to clarify that to make sure your approach is correct for what my problem is.
Disclaimer: Try at your own risk. I can't say whether it will work or not. I don't think you will break anything, as it stands now you have a window that won't go up all the way. The procedure I mentioned is listed on the installation instructions for the WeatherTech side window vent visor shades. Do you know what happened to initially cause your window not to close? If you hold the switch and not use auto up mode will it close then? Posted from my iPhone via the Tapatalk app.
Thanks. I can get the window to go up all the way, I just have to do baby pushes on the button to get it up in little movements. It was caused by the tint being taken off the window which is weird because as the OP posted, it happened to him after adding the tint and extra resistance. So I'm able to get the window fully closed, just with baby steps. If I hold the button (instead of doing the full auto pull), it still does the same thing where it'll automatically stop and go down a few inches on its own.
Give it a try and let us know if it works or what happened. Did you take the tint off yourself or was it removed by a tint shop? There could be something stuck down in the door, you might want to remove your door panel and investigate if the assist method does not work.
The tint place removed the tint. I got tint put back on (after getting the ticket written off) and all is well again and working fine haha
