i have recently purchased a japanese second hand prius 2010 from a local dealer. after 3 weeks i found some issues with the braking system wit it being less responsive at times. any ways i am trying to locate the vin number so i can check if my vehicle was part of the recall. however i am supposed to have 17 digits but i have only 12. i have tried looking at all the recommended places but cant seem to locate it. the only place i found the number was on the floor under the drivers seat but its just 12 digits. urgent help is required and will be highly appreciated.
no believe me i have been trying to locate it and all i can find is a 12 digit number under the drivers seat on the floor. just checked none. all i get is ZVW305242721 listed as vin in my registration documents but thats the chasis number
There are a number of hidden locations that contain the VIN on all vehicles, for law enforcement purposes. Call Toyota corporate and ask if they will reveal one of the locations for you...
If the car was manufactured for the Japanese domestic market, it will not have a VIN. According to Wikipedia, these cars will only have chassis or frame numbers (9-12 alphanumeric digits). See Japanese domestic market - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
