car won't shift out of park

    I was successfully able to install my Prius backup camera, but a few hours later I found that I could not shift out park. I was getting code U0293 on my scangauge. I can push the override button next to the shifter to shift out of park, but I can't figure out whats going on. Hopefully I can go to the dealer tomorrow.

    This is for the 2010, but I'm sure the code is the same.

    BTW, your avatar says you have a 2006, but you posted in the c tech forum...

    So the error has not returned, but there is still an issue. Has anyone seen this?

    So I found the problem. I found the fuse box under the dash and the fuse labels "gauge" was blown. I replaced it and all is well. Bcakup camera is working.

    It's good to know that everything worked out well for you, and it was just a fuse. Do you thing you have shortened something during the installation process?

    yes definitely. Most likely the reverse power.
