From what I've found so far, manufacturers are warranteeing traction batteries for 10/150,000 in CARB states. I e-mailed VW about their new Jetta hybrid battery warranty in CARB states and they told me it's 8/100,000. Would they be wrong?

Do you really expect VW's Help Desk to be helpful? I suspect they just searched through the pdf of the owner's manual or warranty book & read the first page they found.

    They could be right.

Prius c and Lexus CT don't get 10 year/150K mile HV battery warranties in CA and CARB states. :( You can d/l the Prius c warranty booklet yourself to confirm.

I wonder why the hatchback would get the 10/150,000 while the c would get the 8/100,000.

Cost, esp. on the c? No prior precedent? Not needing to certify the Lexus CT and Prius c as AT-PZEV, thus not needing the longer warranty?

Prius liftback had the 10 year/150K mile AT-PZEV warranty since model year 2004 (NHW20), so I guess people would cry foul if they ditched it w/the ZVW30 (2010+ liftback).

IIRC, when we went to Detroit for the '10 Prius unveiling, either at or immediately after, there was some confusing info/concerning info I remember receiving re: the HV battery warranty. It seemed like Toyota was taking a step backwards w/the HV battery warranty for CARB states w/the ZVW30 (we all forgot to even take a pic of the designation). Luckily, that didn't happen.
