My job means I am super busy all summer -- like seven days a week and then around now, I am pretty slow. So, my cheap bosses make me take comp time in late January through first of March. Which gives me time to do projects -- although not so much outside. Long story -- short explaination. Carpet, bedroom closet. Closet is walk in. About six feet in, it splits into a "tee." The left "tee" is about two feet or so. That is where we put two cases of emergency water. After a year, emergency water leaked. I discovered it in August. I cleaned the carpet and the concrete pad with a solution a "fungus/mold" expert friend of mine from University of Washington told me to use. It all looks good, except about two feet of carpet needs to be "re-put down." Originally, it was installed on wood tack strips that were "nailed" into the concrete slab. I actually bought a special drill to do the same. Then, I thought I was overthinking this whole thing. It is the extreme back of the closet. There is no foot traffic on that area. You walk into closet, come to the end and have a choice of reaching left or right. I think I could get by with gluing tack strips onto the concrete and smacking the carpet down. First, any objections? Second, any recommendations on adhesives? No traffic, rest of carpet is anchored, this is not a standalone piece. Would like something that would hold the tack strip pretty well, but if my Half-assed repair does not work, would not be a real pain to re-do. So, wood tack strips on concrete slab....I suppose Elmers glue sticks are not quite up to par.
Sure, I am sure it would hold, but then again, I have never done this before. I want something that has moderate hold, but would be something easy to remove -- if necessary. Hey, I just turned 60. I don't need something that will last 20 years!
